Jiu Jitsu Rulesets Are Weird

From No Time Limit to Combat Jiu Jitsu, BJJ rule sets are pretty weird. Even the most normal-seeming ones have weird loopholes that can be exploited. In this video, I talk all about that and more. I Cut Weight For ADCC Trials
Переглядів 47 тис.7 місяців тому
I tried to cut 13 pounds in 3 days with the help of a dietitian who has worked with UFC fighters like Cody Garbrandt and Marvin Vettori. I'm not trying to promote weight cutting with this video. It's just a part of the sport and if you're going to do it I'd recommend learning from professionals. (and don't do it so last minute like I did) Doctor Capo: drcapodaglio?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2...
Guard Puller Trains Wrestling for 60 Days
Переглядів 82 тис.8 місяців тому
I've pulled guard in all the BJJ competitions I've entered, and have always neglected wrestling. So for 60 days I trained wrestling and at the end, I competed in a Jiu Jitsu competition and tried taking everyone down. This is what happened. XMartial: www.xmartial.com/?ref=joshrich Code:JOSHRICH
I Tested Flashy Jiu Jitsu Submissions
Переглядів 42 тис.8 місяців тому
There are a lot of flashy techniques shown on social media that look like they wouldn't work. So I decided to put them to the test, by attempting to hit them in live training. XMartial: www.xmartial.com/?ref=joshrich Code:JOSHRICH
I love this sport. It's like we all had a special kind of autism.
This is just guard pulling competition
I am considering joint a bjj school. I have a question. How long would one have to study jujitsu to protect oneself? I realize it varies. How do you know how to choose a school that won’t use your and try to hurt you ? Thanks
Yo I love how you commentate
3:12 That's a beautiful ass Uchimata my guy, nothing spazzy here lol. Also, learning how to breakfall can probably be thrown in there for whitebelts to help protect themselves from full force impact when a Judo guy decides to pull some shit like that on you.
Figure 4 Rear naked choke 🔥
I also do jiujitsu am I grey and black belt and some of these moves I’m not allowed to do also I’m 9
ur not a white belt lil bro
the most average sibling fight (professional version)
I’m 20 and never trained martial arts is it a bad idea to start here
Probably blue belt from 5 years😂
This dude isn’t a white belt
Sitting is so g ay
Being a purple belt a useful tool is to have more than one game, understand when you need to flow and when you need pressure why work hard when your opponent understands and knows how to shut down pressure passing style but can't stop flowing or explosive style game
We all understand that your whole channel is about sandbagging.
Just got promoted to blue belt, thank you for the video it helps to have some ideas of what I shout work on next
on what planet are you a white belt?
44 yr old, 5’5”, 170lb no-gi mid level purple here. I highly recommend seeing if you can start volunteering your time in an instructor role at high level blue to purple belt. I started working with the kids in the kids class and some teenagers and adults helping out at open mats. This change the way I trained, and helped me be way more deliberate at things I was unfamiliar with. Kids ask question most adults may be embarrassed to ask or just over overlooked. It forces one to look at BJJ in a very different way. Plus roll with a good 9 yr old with thin, tiny arms. It sucks if they catch a rear naked, and guess what you aren’t allowed to crush them or over power them. You have to use your techniques very methodically. Also try to arm bar a 9 yr old. You learn really quickly if your arm bar is trash. It will help you find your failure points.
This is closer to what I’ve always considered drilling to be. I never considered doing static reps to learn a new move “drilling.” Love this approach.
Jiu jitsu is a fad like crossfit 10 years ago
1:35 Those sound effects had me cackling 🥲
How much bjj do you train a week?
Honestly as a blue belt the leg lock tip is the reason i primarily do Gi as opposed to NoGi, it feels gimicky to me and like people put all their chips onto that one trick (call back to your earlier tip again) and their game suffers because they’re so focused on their opponents legs
I tried to sign up for your guard retention guide, the link is invalid/expired
Thats amazing 😂😂😂😂
Thats amazing 😂😂😂😂
u trying to make bjj a career? What do u do now to pay he bills?
Death note sound effect at 7:38 ?!?! Great commentary!
Bro staged
theres no open mat around me😔
Very interesting approach. Im wondering: why not do both? Some methods are objectively better than others. Some methods work against shit opponents but never work against better ones. Instead of people getting fixated on ones that ultimately will prove useless against higher level players, teach them optimal techniques and then use the ecological approach so they find their own nuances and takes on putting it all together. Or maybe that's not actually realistic?
Great video but the amount of sweat in this gym is disgusting... Bro Johnny's shirt is full of sweat, bro has to wear a rashguard
I’m starting jiu jitsu soon, but I’m very scared about breaking my neck and getting paralyzed.
Bro
Does someone have a breakdown of how mikey got that calf slicer vs sousa
2:42 Roger Gracie has entered the chat.
Do you train mostly gi or nogi?
Almost all no gi
Ngl this looks super gay but it must be hard 🤣, Anyways good matches keep going bro
Lol I have a rule you open you mouth and start breathing heavy and im on top of you its time for mother’s milk in a top spider lock
trill trolling is hilarious
so 3 years into jiujitsu and a purple? how many classes per week & how many competitions?
your not a beginner
I’m a white belt I’ve gotten an elbow injury and it was getting good until I got in a motorcycle accident and my ankle is injured
finally you back broooo
Josh you roll at 10p new York right? Did you get to roll with craig jones when he was their recently? 🤙
holy shit those guys ripped those leg locks on you 😂

I’m glad you were there to witness it 😂
